3. Claiming to have the best lasik tools and equipment possible.
4. Not being attentive or providing the patient with answers and references when asked.

If you are keen on being free from corrective eye glasses or restrictive contact lenses, it’s easier for you to become prey of this trickery by a Lasik eye clinic. Make sure you do your homework before you succumb to their marketing and persuasion skils.

At this writing in 2009, the standard charge per eye is around $1,300. Other clinics may charge more especially if they have the top eye surgeons in their payroll. You could pay as much as $3,000 if this is the case. But, there are equally competent and experienced doctors that don’t charge that much. Ask for referrals. Beware of those who charge as low as $400. They may either have an inexperienced surgeon, out of date tools and equipment, or they may have other charges in the fine print.

You can easily verify the credentials of Lasik surgeon claiming that he or she is the best in town. The first thing that you have to do is look for a doctor licensed to operate in your state, a diploma from medical school and other training certificates. Ask your Lasik eye institute how many procedures the doctor has under his or her belt also. Experience is the best teacher and although someone has to be their first patient, don't let it be you!

Don’t forget to ask what Lasik apparatus the Lasik eye clinic would be used on your eyes. You can then cross verify the make and model of the apparatus online or from other eye clinics you may call. They usually spill all the beans about their rival’s apparatus. Use this to gather vital information. And, if you can sense that the clerk is reluctant to tell you what you want to know over the phone, there goes your gauge on their customer service. The best eye clinic is the one who has your welfare and satisfaction as their main concern.

Do your homework and you can have a safe, effective Lasik procedure. Jump at the lowest price and you could wind up with much worse eyesight, or even vision loss. Insist that the doctor you are considering answer all of your questions and provide references of former patients who are happy with their results.
